Hi Everyone, I was just wondering what was the most popular source people used to determine the value of their cards for trading. I wanted to make a poll type post, but I don't know that many pricing sites. I've been using median prices at www.tcgplayer.com just for the simple fact that I can directly link the prices into my Excel spreadsheet and they update everytime I open it.

I use Blackborder.com myself. There are lots of others though. as long as you both use the same site, it dosen't really matter what one you use, as it is just for comparison purposes anyways. If a site has a two dollar difference between two cards, the difference will be comparable at another site, even if both cards are cheaper at said other site. At least at the sites I've seen anyways. MOTL and Troll&Toad are two more I've been to. Ther are more, but I can't think of any ATM.

I will generally try and use whatever the other trader is comfortable with. I tend to favor prices from magic.tcgplayer.com and starcitygames, however.

I use Cardkingdom.com for the prices, but I don't really care if my cards are worth a little bit more, because the other guy is sending me cards I will play and I will send him some that I don't play with...

Besides ccgtradepost.com, of course, My favorite MTG site is called Essential Magic. It provides price ranges but also has a great deck database.

There are so many sites out there to use, and costs vary notably. I check 2 or 3 sites I am most familiar with, to get a comparative cost/ratio. I also ask the other person if there is 1 they like to use so that I can find what averages out to a reasonable trade. I usually look at CCGtradepost which seems connected with this site. Some like MTGfanatic, and others like Starcitygames. When it comes to buying cards, I have a few favorite sites that seem to have the cheapest prices, but these don't work as good for trading because if the cards all seem cheap, it is harder to compare (a 25c difference could be $1 on other websites), and # of cards matters too. A 1 for 1 trade works, but 1 expensive card for a bunch of cheap ones don't always balance well.

I am right with azureknight. I tend to triple source my prices. My first look is always to Essential Magic. I database my collection with them so I am very familiar with the setup. I then check Blackboarder.com and magicfanatic.com. 99% of the time it gets me a range I am comfortable with. The other 1% of the time, it is totally feel. Still on any close calls I tend to side with the trade because the cards in my trade binder are sitting unused and the cards I am trading for will immediately be used.

I usually look at 2 to 3 sites then decide if i need the cards getting more than ones im trading away. Needing cards for a deck more important than value most times to me even if giving more for some cards.

I think this is one of the most important topics on the site. I try to avoid using websites which have their own prices such as TrollandToad or SCG since they often don't take into account recent fluctuations in price. I prefer using sites which have a mean price from multiple sites. I often use Blackborder since they have a Low, Average and High, and I always use the Average because it feels about right. The other site I like to use is findmagiccards.com since my favourite local gaming store in my city uses their prices instead of using labels, so if I need a card or two I can just check the price online before I buy.
Keep up the good work guys!!

I like to use magic.tcgplayer.com, it gives a pretty good average price and follows card price fluctuations.
Here comes the face-smasher.

I personally like Blackborder.com but I'm usually not very worried about it as long as I'm getting cards I need and getting rid of cards I don't use.
